Comic book movies and how H’wood is “sort of” starting to get it.
August 22, 2008

Had a feeling this would start happening in regards to comic book inspired films. After Iron Man and Dark Knight became big hits (the latter a mega-hit which is still raking in the dough) for their studios, it looks like the head honchos have setttled back to re-think what they’re doing with these films. That’s a good thing so long as they are careful.
I guess fans are leery of the studios because studios put so much effort into focus groups, Happy Meals and toy lines that they lose site of what the character, mythos or the story arc is all about. Or worse, they ignore the fans and do something completely off the mark.
I picked up this article from Ain’t It Cool News. It pretty much sums up Warner Brothers regrouping in regards to the characters is has the rights to either pervert or glorify on the big screen. Let’s hope they stick with the revised business plan and do the latter.
